Clay Hale is senior vice president and chief financial officer for Siemens Government Technologies, the energy and technology conglomerate’s U.S. federal business organization.

He started his tenure as SVP and CFO in March and spoke with ExecutiveBiz less than a month later to discuss how he applies Siemens’ commercial success in the federal market and research and development initiatives.

In February 2013, he caught up with ExecutiveBiz to discuss the company’s growth plans and how SGT aims to help the federal government carry out technology projects.

The nearly two-decade company veteran most recently served as vice president of finance for Siemens Industry’s customer services division in the U.S.

Before that, he held the same title for the U.S. industry automation division and the dematic material handling products division, which handles all manufacturing and assembly for Siemens Dematic and many U.S. factories.

Hale, whose primary background is in manufacturing, has worked at the conglomerate’s Nuernberg, Germany and as divisional finance manager within the U.S.

Before joining Siemens, he worked as a plant controller at AVX Corp. in Raleigh, N.C., where he helped oversee manufacturing operations and started his career with Price Waterhouse as a staff accountant.

The Army National Guard veteran served as an armor company commander and has served on multiple boards.

He graduated from The Citadel, holds an M.B.A. from Duke University and is a certified public accountant in North Carolina.
