operational security1The Department of Homeland Security intends to award a $2 million contract to Implant Sciences Corp. to help the agency build systems for identifying explosives at U.S. airport security checkpoints.

DHS aims to bolster air travel safety by developing new tools and methods for explosives trace detection, Implant Sciences said Thursday.

“Implant Sciences will work closely with the department to accelerate the development of ETD systems engineered by our team,” said Glenn Bolduc, Implant Sciences president and CEO.

Bolduc added the project’s goal is to develop a technology designed to improve passenger screening and reduce false alarms.

The company says its ETD products are DHS-approved counterterrorism technologies and built to help security personnel curb bomb and illegal drug threats.
