HP logoHewlett Packard will provide its big data and analytics technology to help the city of Auckland, New Zealand, transportation agency manage traffic flow and incidents.

Auckland Transport will implement an HP IDOL-powered video analytics system as well as the company’s HAVEn big data platform to analyze public safety data across the city, HP said Tuesday.

HP says the technology is intended for the agency to collate real-time information from roadway and environmental sensors, security cameras and online news feeds.

The agency also intends to deploy an HP Intelligent Scene Analysis System in conjunction with a license plate recognition to examine activities and potential threats at public spaces.

HP enterprise products to be deployed for the Auckland Transport project include the Proliant blade server, 3PAR storage, StoreAll archiving technology and FlexFabric network architecture.

VidSys, an HP partner, will supply the agency with an integrated platform that is built to manage physical security, traffic management and computer-assisted dispatch systems.
