Ronnie Chronister, a former deputy commander at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, has joined Dynetics as director of the company’s army and missile defense programs.

He has served in SMDC’s no. 2 civilian post for two years and led a 5,000-employee organization that is responsible for developing and operating the military branch’s space and missile defense systems, Dynetics said Thursday.

David King, president of Dynetics, said Chronister brings a diverse experience as the company looks to expand its products and service offerings in the defense market.

Chronister also held the roles of deputy to the commanding general at the Army Aviation and Missile Command and executive director for the command’s Integrated Materiel Management Center.

He also worked at the branch’s Aviation and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center.

He is a State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame inductee and a recipient of the Presidential Rank Award, Department of the Army Award for Diversity, Distinguished Rank Award and Department of the Army Small Business Award.
