Pitney Bowes will provide mail processing and document management technology for the U.S. Citizens and Immigration Services under a new $1.4 million contract award from the Department of Homeland Security.

The project includes software for digital file and print queue handling, printers and inserters for two USCIS communications processing centers, and postage meters to aid in distribution management, Pitney Bowes said Nov. 5.

“Pitney Bowes has a long-standing partnership with the Department of Homeland Security and we are delighted to have been selected to… help [USCIS achieve its mission to effectively communicate] with immigrants and citizens,” said Mark Shearer, executive vice president and president of Pitney Bowes SMB mailing solutions.

USCIS takes care of more than 7 million applications for benefits, permanent residency, citizenship and other petitions every year.
