network, comm, informationInmarsat has approved Hughes Network Systems9211-HDR portable Broadband Global Area Network terminal as part of its BGAN HDR streaming service for mobile satellite connectivity.

Inmarsat said Monday the terminal supports data streaming rates of up to 800 kilobytes per second and features a compact form, Wi-Fi access for multiple users, automatic context activation and built-in RJ11 connector.

“BGAN HDR is a game-changing service delivering superior video quality from anywhere in the world, and broadcasters who have used it are extremely enthusiastic about its capabilities,” said Greg Ewert, president of Inmarsat’s enterprise business.

The company said 9211-HDR can support relief work, mobile healthcare, broadcast media and public safety operations, among other satellite connectivity applications.
