medical imaging systemCarestream Health has obtained Defense Department authorization to provide the company’s picture archiving and communications systems to U.S. Navy-run hospitals.

The Vue PACS technology is approved to operate on the branch’s network and certified as security compliant under the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process, Carestream said Monday.

Medical facilities use PACS to store and access medical images and reports.

Carestream says its web-based platform works to help clinicians view results of diagnostic tests and share radiology data with other healthcare providers.

The system is also built to automatically process three-dimensional imaging data sets and designed with voice recognition and reporting applications for remote viewing of medical files.
