BAE Systems has introduced a thermographic weapon sight platform designed to help military users recognize threats when they conduct surveillance missions during the day or night.
The Universal Thermal Clip-On XII device is built with a 12-micron thermal imaging camera to allow operators to observe target locations that are surrounded by fog, dust or smoke, BAE said Monday.
Marc Casseres, director of BAE’s imaging and aiming business, said the company developed the technology to increase threat visibility of tactical and special operations forces in all weather conditions.
The company will showcase the UTC XII platform at the annual SHOT Show gun trade event in Las Vegas.
BAE also plans to equip the firm’s other weapon sight, monocular and binocular products with the 12-micron thermal imaging technology.
