tanner_mike_smallMichael Tanner serves as president and CEO of Hitachi Data Systems Federal Corp. and has managed the organization’s operations and growth since its official launch as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Data Systems in April 2013.

Tanner, a more than 30-year business management veteran, joined HDS in 2007 and held the roles of a district sales manager and a regional vice president before he elevated to his current position.

He also supervised Hewlett-Packard‘s storage platform sales in the government market after working for Xerox for six years.

At Xerox, he oversaw the release of an enterprise software portfolio as well as helped the company negotiate original equipment manufacturer agreements and establish a technical consulting practice.

He started his career at Honeywell‘s federal systems business and also worked at Tandem Computers, where he held responsibility for product sales to federal agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service and the departments of Treasury and Agriculture.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and in computer science from East Carolina University and a master’s degree in systems management from the University of South Carolina.
