solar powerThe General Services Administration is looking for a contractor to develop, install and maintain a solar photovoltaic technology at nine federal buildings in the northern parts of California and Nevada.

GSA said Thursday it plans to award a potential 20-year power purchase agreement through the Federal Aggregated Solar Procurement Pilot initiative.

The program is part of GSA’s efforts to help the government lower electricity bills and use at least 30 percent renewable energy by 2025.

GSA also said the initiative would allow multiple agencies to share energy procurement and management resources and could serve as a model for energy acquisition on a nationwide basis.

Proposals are due by May 29 and the GSA could award the PPA in summer.
