Sam Visner, vice president and general manager for cybersecurity at ICF International, has said efforts to develop new cyber defense methods require the help of an information security analysis organization, GovInfoSecurity reported Friday.

Eric Chabrow writes Visner is leading a research and development initiative to create new ways to protect the cyberspace in collaboration with researchers in academia, industry and government.

In an interview with Information Security Media Group, Visner highlighted the need for a cybersecurity R&D group.

“There is a lot of really good thinking that’s taking place, but not everybody is aware of that thinking, and we’re not necessarily in a position to apply the benefits of that thinking,” he told the media outlet.

Visner also said the cybersecurity R&D ISAO would serve to further cyber collaboration in order to defend against threats.
