award stock photoThe U.S. Defense Department has announced the winners of its Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Awards, recognizing public and private organizations that hire people who have served in U.S. Guard and Reserve units.

DoD said Thursday it chose 15 of the 2,960 nominees to receive the award at a ceremony that will be held at the Pentagon on Aug. 21.

“I am truly honored to recognize these 15 organizations for their unwavering support of our military men and women and their families,” said Defense Secretary Ashton Carter.

The 2015 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award recipients are:

  • Boise, Idaho, Fire Department
  • BP America
  • Cardinal Health
  • Cigna
  • City of Glendale, Arizona
  • City of Shawnee, Kansas
  • College of the Ozarks
  • CVS Health
  • Devon Energy
  • Dr. Joe A. Jackson PLLC
  • Neil Dymott Frank McFall Trexler McCabe & Hudson APLC
  • Snell & Wilmer LLP
  • Town of Hingham, Massachusetts
  • Walt Disney
