technology, cyber, cloud, computerFederal spending on cloud computing technologies will grow around 26.5 percent fiscal year 2015 compared to fiscal 2014, Alex Rossino of Deltek writes in a blog entry posted Tuesday.

Rossino, a principal research analyst at the company, predicts agencies to see an increase in spending from $1.58 billion in fiscal 2014 to $2 billion in the current fiscal year.

He adds that data also points to a total awarded value of $794 million for the first half of fiscal 2015 compared to $125 million in the prior year period.

According to Rossino, the jump in contract value in the first quarter of the current fiscal year could be due to the Defense Information Systems Agency‘s award of the Enterprise Storage Solutions II contract.

He noted that fiscal 2015 could see further growth in the federal cloud market as federal procurement patterns indicate that the second half of the year typically has significant contracting activity, even as agencies have already spent $238 million midway through the current quarter.
