Eduardo Bellido, formerly director at Munich-based OHB System, has joined Thales Alenia Space Espana to replace Juan Garces de Marcilla as chief executive officer.
He brings nearly two decades of experience in the aerospace sector to the Spanish subsidiary of Thales Alenia Space and will oversee the company’s strategic initiatives, industrial, finance and corporate development operations, Thales said Thursday.
Prior to joining Thales, Bellido spent more than five years at OHB System, formerly Kayser-Threde, and held directorial and managerial roles in various areas, such as commercial and business development, procurement, bid and capture and system engineering.
He served as a satellite project manager and section manager at Eutelsat for a decade.
Bellido also worked as space project engineer at GMV and directed the design of satellite control facilities for telecommunication satellites before he moved to Eutelsat in 2000.
He graduated from the Technological University of Munich with a master’s degree in physics.
