medalsBeth Savage, the General Services Administration‘s Center for Historic Buildings manager, has received the 2014 Secretary of the Interior Federal Historic Preservation Officer of the Year Award for her work on GSA’s historic building projects.

Thomas Walton wrote in a blog entry posted Wednesday that Savage has directed efforts to preserve nearly 500 historic buildings and sites under the agency’s stewardship through reinvestment and reuse.

She has also worked on adding buildings to the National Register of Historic Places and assessing “modern era” facilities based on the 50-year threshold for eligibility into the National Register, Walton said.

Savage is a Federal Preservation Officer and the formal designee of the GSA administrator to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.
