night-vision gogglesIntevac Photonics has been awarded a $24 million contract to supply night vision cameras for the U.S. Army’s Apache Helicopter’s pilot night vision sensor program.

The new contract extends a previous deal the Army awarded to the Intevac Inc. subsidiary in 2013, Intevac said Monday.

Intevac Photonics is scheduled to complete the delivery of electronic image intensification cameras by February 2017.

Drew Brugal, executive vice president and general manager of Intevac Photonics, said the company seeks to build the cameras for “key U.S. military platforms and applications.”

The camera is based on Intevac’s electron bombarded active pixel sensor digital imaging sensor that is designed to detect objects in low light condition.
