Amit Yoran, president of RSA Security, has called on Southeast Asian companies and governments to reconsider their cybersecurity approach amid a growing mobile and cloud transition for data storage in the region.

Yoran issued the statement before an audience consisting of private and public cybersecurity professionals in Singapore during the RSA Conference Asia Pacific and Japan, EMC said Wednesday.

“You must understand what matters to your business and what is mission critical. You have to… defend what’s important and defend it with everything you have,” he told the conference.

Yoran also talked about how mobile and cloud technologies could be used to the disadvantage of companies despite the fact that these platforms have become a boon to organizations.

“No matter how high or smart the walls, focused adversaries will find ways over, under, around and through,” said Yoran.

He recommended that companies and governments bolster their identity management strategies, make use of external threat data and monitor the endpoint between the network and the cloud.
