ADOBSphotoA Chemring Group subsidiary has signed an agreement with the U.S. Navy to manufacture propellant grains for the service’s anti-personnel obstacle breaching system.

Chemring Ordnance will produce up to 11,000 extruded double base N-5 propellant grains under the four-year partnership, Chemring said Monday.

“We look forward to expanding this partnership into additional opportunities to jointly manufacture EDB propellant grains for other weapon systems,” said Michael Quesenberry, president of Chemring Ordnance.

Soldiers use APOBS to move through mine fields and razor wire protected areas.

Chemring Ordnance will load the propellant grains into MK 126 MOD 0 rocket motors after inspection.
