IntelIntel’s global investment arm has selected eight startups to receive up to $100,000 each in funds to further develop their educational technology platforms under an accelerator program.

The Intel Education Accelerator is a four-month initiative that seeks to provide mentorship to companies and allow them to carry out pilot testing of their educational tools in schools, Intel said Monday.

BeeLine is working on a digital system designed to help improve reading skills among students and those with dyslexia, while Echelon Creative is developing a platform that seeks to improve vocabulary among students through the introduction of synonyms in text messages.

Other selected startups are:

  • GotIt!
  • Griti
  • Myriad Sensors
  • ToneTree
  • Vidcode
  • WriteReader

Redwood City, California-based GSVlabs will house the program’s startups and host coaching events for entrepreneurs.

The Intel Education Accelerator will hold a “pitch day” on Dec. 2 for entrepreneurs to present their educational platforms to potential investors.
