F35Lockheed Martin and the Defense Department plan to strike a deal in the fall for the next batches of F-35 fighter jets that could cost $15 billion, Reuters reported Tuesday.

Andrea Shalal writes the agreement is for the ninth batch of F-35 comprising 60 jets and the 10th batch consisting of 100 units.

“We’re still in negotiations,” Frank Kendall, defense undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, said during the rollout of the first F-35 jet for Norway.

“I hope that they’ll conclude by this fall,” Kendall added.

Pentagon is also in talks with Pratt & Whitney for the F-35’s engines, Reuters reports.
