Mike Petters, president and CEO of Huntington Ingalls Industries and a U.S. Navy veteran, has accepted the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation’s Lone Sailor Award during an awards ceremony held Thursday in Washington.
Huntington Ingalls said Monday the foundation presents the award to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their careers during or after military service.
“The Navy’s standards for honor, courage and commitment became an aspiration to me and central to my ambitions” Petters said.
Petters worked aboard the USS George Bancroft nuclear-powered submarine and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve for five years before he joined the private sector.
