Melody Barnes, formerly a domestic policy strategist and vice provost and senior fellow at New York University, has joined Booz Allen Hamilton’s board of directors.
Barnes will serve as a member of the compensation and nominating and corporate governance committees, Booz Allen said Friday.
Her term is set to end in the summer of 2016.
“Melody brings a wealth of public policy expertise that will give the firm an enhanced and broadened perspective on issues that are important to our clients and to our own strategic planning,” said Ralph Shrader, chairman of the board at Booz Allen Hamilton.
Barnes was previously President Barack Obama’s assistant and director of the Domestic Policy Council.
She held the roles of executive vice president for policy at the Center for American Progress between 2005 and 2008, and senior fellow between 2003 and 2005.
She co-founded MB Squared Solutions LLC, served as chair of the Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions and was a director at Ventas Inc.
