A Mercury Systems subsidiary has been awarded a potential five-year, $41.8 million contract to build 200 miniaturized digital radio frequency memory modulators for the U.S. Navy.
The Defense Department said Thursday Mercury Defense Systems will also provide repair and evaluation services for the mini I/J band DRFMs.
Miniaturized DRFMs work to help users produce high-fidelity threat simulation tools for testing, assessment and training use, DoDÂ says.
Mercury Systems designed its technology to employ field programmable gate arrays and analog-to-digital converters and work with multiple signal processing methods.
The Navy will obligate $169,681 in fiscal year 2015 working capital funds at the time of award and work is scheduled to occur at the company’s facility in Cypress, California, through November 2020.
