CGI has been awarded a $9.8 million contract to develop an electronic ballot counting system for Scotland’s government in preparation for the U.K. member country’s election in 2017.
The company will provide end-to-end services, software and technical infrastructure for the postal balloting process, CGI said Tuesday.
“The next 12 months will be of vital importance as we engage in a robust testing regime of the e-counting system in advance of the elections in 2017,†said Maggie Morrison, public sector director for CGI’s operations in Scotland.
Morrison added that the company will work with partners Dacoll and Rathmhor to plan, test and train ahead of the election period.
A total of 1,200 councilors across Scotland’s 32 local authorities will go through the election process in 2017.
