Construction Week magazine has picked Parsons‘Â railway network project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, as the recipient of the Infrastructure Project of the Year award.
The Etihad Rail Stage 1 project is a 1,200-kilometer passenger and freight railway system that will work to serve as a link between the UAE and other Gulf Cooperation Council member countries, Parsons said Tuesday.
“[The] timing almost coincides with the project being granted the official license to commence commercial operations,” noted Gary Adams, president for the Middle East and African region at Parsons.
A joint venture of Parsons and AECOM oversees the railway project, which also received the Engineering News-Record magazine’s Global Best Project Award of Merit in August.
