Bae-systems-logo_ExecutiveBiz1BAE Systems PLC has secured a potential $4.3 million contract from the U.K. defense ministry to continue to provide a service that aims to reduce collision risk in the country’s uncontrolled airspace.

BAE said Tuesday its Centralized Aviation Data Service works to help pilots plan flight routes in order to prevent flight path crashes.

The CADS system also works to assess the pilot’s flight path based on the aircraft’s speed, size and weight through a set of algorithms and an encrypted system.

Britain’s defense ministry has issued a mandate that requires military pilots to use CADS to plot flights below 2,000 feet.
