electricityCapstone Turbine has been selected to produce microturbines for installation in the combined heat and power plant of a U.S. federal government headquarters building in Washington, D.C.

The government ordered C800 and C200 microturbines from E-Finity Distributed Generation, Capstone’s distributor for the mid-Atlantic and southeastern U.S. region, Capstone said Monday.

“Capstone is thrilled to be able to serve the U.S. government by providing it the tools it needs to effectively meet its sustainability goals,” said Jim Crouse, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Capstone Turbine.

The microturbines will generate a combined 1 megawatt of power in order to help offset the building’s electrical load and the waste heat will produce chilled water for the building’s cooling system.

E-Finity configured the microturbines to adapt to the U.S. federal government’s space requirements.
