FAA Extends Cyber Support Contract With CSRA Subsidiary, Plans to Solicit New Proposals in February

The Federal Aviation Administration has extended its contract with SRA International, a subsidiary of technology services contractor CSRA, to continue to provide support services for the FAA’s security operations center.

The FAA said in a Jan. 14 notice posted on FedBizOpps that the contract extension is a “bridge contract action” that aims to prevent the discontinuation of cybersecurity management services to SOC while it works on a new solicitation to acquire such services through a competitive procurement process.

The agency’s current contract with SRA is scheduled to expire on Feb. 29.

Aaron Boyd of Federal Times reports the contract extension has a base period of six months and three option months.

FAA expects to issue a request for proposals next month and sign a contract by the end of November 2016 with a new vendor that will work to meet all the agency’s cybersecurity requirements, Boyd writes.

The former Computer Sciences Corp.‘s U.S. government services unit merged with SRA in November 2015 to form the company known as CSRA.
