Mary Davie, assistant commissioner of the integrated technology services office at GSA’s FAS, wrote in a blog post published Tuesday that the new deal with Esri is part of the implementation of the Federal Information Technology Acquisition Reform Act

GSA expects federal agencies that purchase Esri-built geospatial software to achieve at least 5 percent in average savings and secure tiered discounts once they transition to the modified IT Schedule 70 contract vehicle, Davie said.

GSA worked with the Office of Management and Budget and users from the Department of the Navy, Agriculture Department, Army Corps of Engineers, and the Interior Department to develop an agreement that seeks to manage federal government spending on such licenses valued at approximately $294 million.
