military in trainingThe U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Meggitt Training Systems a $7.19 million delivery order to build a virtual small-arms training platform to USMC’s systems command.

Meggitt said Tuesday it will produce Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer systems in an effort to help Marines hone their marksmanship, judgment and collective skills.

“Utilizing simulation in these three training arenas minimizes range time and ammunition costs, allows for immediate, corrective action in a controlled setting and provides realistic training with real duty weapons,” noted Larry Raines, Meggitt’s vice president of virtual systems.

The order includes company-made BlueFire wireless weapons and is the second order that Meggitt has received under a potential five-year, $32.7 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.

Meggitt will deliver and install the ISMT systems at various facilities and on naval ships of the Marine Corps worldwide.
