Smartphone1 EbizGeneral Dynamics will develop, deploy and maintain a new 911 emergency call-handling system for Fairfax County, Virginia under a contract with the jurisdiction’s government.

The company said Monday it will replace Fairfax County’s legacy system with an Internet Protocol-based Next Generation 9-1-1 system that works to support five answering points and facilitate emergency access to existing public networks.

General Dynamics helped to create a similar program in Morgan County, Ohio and deployed more than 50 Enhanced 911 systems to date.
