The Javelin Joint Venture accepted the performance-based logistics award with the U.S. Army’s close combat weapon systems project office that served as its partner on the weapon system, Lockheed said Wednesday.

“This unique PBL sustainment approach demonstrates a commitment to what is best for the warfighter, while allowing for flexibility and further evolution,” said Steven Potts, U.S. Army Close Combat Weapon Systems Project Office chief of Systems Support.

Javelin is an anti-armor, shoulder-fired weapon system designed to help warfighters launch attacks against enemy targets.

Rich Benton, Javelin Joint Venture vice president and Javelin program director at Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business, said the JV’s partnership with the service branch works to maintain Javelin’s availability as well as control the weapon system’s sustainment costs.
