Lockheed Martin has won a potential $10.6 million contract to manufacture multispectral electro-optic infrared countermeasures to be installed on the U.S. Navy’s combined EO/IR surveillance and response system.
The Defense Department said Wednesday the company will perform work in Bothell, Washington through March 1, 2020.
The Office of Naval Research said in a FedBizOps notice posted April 2015 the EO/IR surveillance and response system program is part of efforts to help defend ships from optically guided anti-ship missile threats.
The system will incorporate a shipboard panoramic cueing and surveillance system to detect and track threats. along with a multispectral countermeasures tool for use in cueing functions, according to the notice.
The Naval Research Laboratory received five offers for the contract via the Internet.
