ElectronicWarfareS2 Corp. and Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab have been awarded a $4.5 million subcontract from BAE Systems to provide a radio frequency sensor system to the Office of Naval Research.

MSU said Wednesday it will deliver a wideband radio frequency sensor Extreme Bandwidth Analyzer and Correlator alongside S2 to support BAE’s Full-Spectrum Staring Receiver electronic warfare technology initiative.

EBAC and FSSR will work to track threats and provide situational awareness for U.S. Navy ships as part of ONR’s Electronic Warfare Discovery and Invention Program, MSU noted.

The Navy aims to give its ships awareness of threat emitters over the electromagnetic spectrum through the program, according to MSU.

Other members of the BAE-led FSSR team include the University of Colorado Boulder, Purdue University, HRL Laboratories and the Naval Research Laboratory.
