northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has received an $83.4 million contract modification to provide logistics support for the U.S. Army‘s MQ-5B Hunter unmanned aircraft system.

The company’s technical services business will perform work in Sierra Vista, Arizona and in Afghanistan through Oct. 30, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

The Army obligated the full amount of the modification from its fiscal year 2016 operations and maintenance funds.

Northrop designed the MQ-5B to help Army division and corps commanders transmit intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data via the wideband Tactical Common Data Link.

Northrop’s Sierra Vista, Arizona-based unmanned systems integration center serves as the depot support facility for Hunter drones.
