Ryan Norris, a 12-year veteran of Huntington Ingalls Industries, has been appointed director of strategic planning and business development at the company’s marine engineering and naval architecture services subsidiary AMSEC.
He will report to AMSEC President Harris Leonard and oversee the organization’s strategic planning, BD, capture, proposal and marketing functions in his new position, HII said Wednesday.
Norris has previously held various leadership roles at the company’s offices in San Diego and in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
“His knowledge of our business and customers is critical to the company’s growth in the government services industry,” noted Leonard.
Prior to AMSEC, Norris spent six years at the U.S. Navy as an engineering duty officer and a surface warfare officer.
He was assigned to serve onboard the USS Mount Vernon amphibious ship and led ship repair and overhaul projects for the USS Tarawa and USS Belleau Wood amphibious ships as well as the USS Princeton and USS Lake Champlain cruisers.
Virginia-based AMSEC offers marine engineering, shipyard industrial planning and design naval architecture, C4I installation, waterfront systems testing and maintenance and hull, mechanical and electrical services.
