SM-3 Block IIAAerojet Rocketdyne has agreed to supply propulsion and energetic systems for Raytheon‘s major weapon programs under a strategic sourcing agreement between the two companies.

Raytheon and Aerojet Rocketdyne also aim to jointly chase affordability programs in the government sector through 2019 as part of their partnership, Raytheon said Tuesday.

“This landmark agreement is an important step forward in collaboration between industry partners and the U.S. government to achieve the objectives of Better Buying Power 3.0,” noted Taylor Lawrence, president of Raytheon’s missile systems business.

Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work said in April 2015 that the latest iteration of the Defense Department’s BBP initiative aims to help maintain the technological edge of the U.S. government over potential threats.

Aerojet Rocketdyne is also the provider of solid rocket motors for United Launch Alliance‘s portfolio of Atlas V launch vehicles.
