GSAThe General Services Administration seeks proposals on a Des Moines, Iowa-based site where a new U.S. courthouse could be built to replace a courthouse in downtown Des Moines and a leased courthouse annex.

GSA said Wednesday the $136.6 million it plans to allocate for the new facility will go to the acquisition, design and construction of the new facility, which will house nine courtrooms and 13 chambers.

The agency added it will consider sites that were donated or are to be sold to the government.

A request for expressions of interest posted Tuesday on FedBizOpps stated the site should be located in Des Moines’ central business district and should have an area of approximately 230,000 gross square feet to accommodate office space, interior parking, physical security requirements and zoning regulations.

The REOI added GSA will not consider sites within the 100-year floodplain unless there are no alternatives.

Interested landowners can submit proposals until Aug. 16.

GSA is scheduled to pick a site by 2017.
