First Command ImageRetired military officers Alford McMichael and Charles Clarke have joined First Command Financial Services as members of the company’s military advisory board.

McMichael and Clarke will provide independent advice on military trends and the financial needs and products and services that affect military families as part of First Command’s 10-member board, the company said Monday.

They will also help the company align its ethical standards with the military and develop relationships with the service branches, their civilian and reserve personnel and the National Guard.

“[The military advisory board is] committed to helping us help career service members plan for and pursue the financial security they seek for themselves and their families,” said First Command CEO Scott Spiker.

He noted that McMichael and Clarke continue to be involved in the military community.

McMichael served with the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 36 years, was the 14th sergeant major of the service branch from 1999 to 2003 and became the first senior noncommissioned officer for NATO’s Allied Command Operations at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe.

Clarke served as the 17th fleet master chief for the U.S. Fleet Forces Command and had a 29-year career in the U.S. Navy. before his retirement in April.

The First Command military advisory board comprises retired military senior flag officers and senior enlisted leaders.
