NavyShipLockheed Martin has selected Cambridge Pixel to build software modules for a navigation radar system that Lockheed will integrate with more than 60 platforms of the U.K. navy under a $57.9 million contract with the country’s defense ministry.

Cambridge Pixel said Wednesday its software modules will be integrated into the Lockheed-built Naval Vigilance Radar system to facilitate radar scan conversion, target tracking and radar fusion.

The radar scan conversion module is designed to receive radar data from Kelvin HughesSharpEye radar to create a radar image for display with underlay and overlay graphics while the target tracking module works to process radar data to acquire and monitor targets, Cambridge Pixel noted.

Cambridge Pixel added the radar fusion module works to combine tracks from ships’ multiple radars into a single integrated data source.

The company will also supply radar simulation and recording support from its SPx product line to support the development and test phase of Lockheed’s navigation radar system for the British navy.
