The Health Information Trust Alliance has integrated its cyber threat detection and response platform with a Department of Homeland Security-run threat indicator exchange program.
HITRUST said Wednesday the bi-directional integration of Cyber Threat XChange and DHS’ Automated Indicator Sharing Program seeks to provide healthcare organizations access to threat intelligence from the alliance and federal government.
“In addition to helping CTX participants overcome technical challenges, we wanted to educate them on the value of AIS and assure them that any information shared is anonymized in order to reduce liability concerns, while affording them the liability protection provided under the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act,” said HITRUST CEOÂ Daniel Nutkis.
HITRUST noted uses CTX to share threat information with the healthcare sector and other industries.
CTX has shared 5,158 unique indicators of compromise across healthcare organizations as of September 2016, compared with 186 unique IOCs shared during the same month last year, HITRUST added.
The alliance also launched the CyberAid program in an effort to identify technology platforms that can work to help smaller healthcare organizations contribute threat data to CTX in near-real time.
