Ingalls Shipbuilding Selects Aras Platform to Manage Ship Engineering Processes; Peter Schroer Comments

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Ingalls Shipbuilding division has selected Aras to provide an enterprise product lifecycle management software for use in the shipyard’s engineering processes.

Aras will deliver the Aras Innovator platform and work to standardize Ingalls Shipbuilding’s processes, systems and databases onto one platform, Aras said Monday.

Ingalls Shipbuilding will use the Aras Innovator platform to handle models, drawings, parts, technical specifications and structural planning for U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels.

“Designing and building the warships of the future requires solving tough technological challenges today with engineering business processes that provide greater collaboration,” said Aras CEO Peter Schroer.

Ingalls Shipbuilding will also apply the Aras Innovator platform on key areas such as concurrent engineering, configuration management, rules-based design and planning, model recovery and process updates.
