F-15 planeBoeing will work to identify a vendor that can supply 132 infrared search-and-track sensors in support of a $198 million program to modernize the U.S. Air Force’s F-15C/D twin-engined fighter, Flight Global reported Monday.

Stephen Trimble writes the Air Force has also tasked Boeing to find a provider of sensors for active duty squadrons, Air National Guard and test assets.

Boeing will integrate the pod with the F-15’s Raytheon-built active electronically scanned array radar after the sensor procurement phase, according to the report.

The upgrade plan kicked off in August as the Air Force started to update its F-15 fleet to keep the jet in service through the mid-2040s.

The Air Force also plans to install BAE Systems’ Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System in the F-15 to trace radar signals, the report says.
