Boeing-P-8A-PoseidonBoeing has received a $31.1 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to perform non-recurring engineering work on the Liquid Air Palletized System for the P-8A Poseidon maritime aircraft.

The Defense Department said Wednesday that Boeing will also provide an instrument unit to support LAPS tests and DoD expects the company to finish work under the modification in March 2019.

The full obligated amount at the time of award is from the Navy’s fiscal 2015 aircraft procurement funds.

Boeing will also build 16 full-rate production Lot 3 P-8A Poseidon planes for the military branch and another four aircraft for Australia under a separate $2.5 billion contract modification awarded in January.
