spaceThe University of Nevada in Las Vegas has signed partnership agreement with Lockheed Martin to support space exploration projects such as NASA’s Orion program.

Lockheed will allocate up to $5 million in space exploration-related task orders for UNLV’s Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering under the five-year agreement, the university said Tuesday.

“This effort will allow both Lockheed Martin and UNLV to provide meaningful work to our NASA customers as they continue to push the boundaries of space exploration,” said Scott Jones, director of civil space supply chain management at Lockheed.

Lockheed and UNLV held a signing ceremony at UNLV’s Tam Alumni Grand Hall to kick off the new partnership.

UNLV previously worked with Arcata Associates and Teledyne Brown Engineering under the space agency’s mentor-protege program.
