Joe Armstrong, formerly director of training and operational solutions at CAE, has been appointed vice president and general manager of the company’s defense and security business unit in Canada.
He will oversee several programs such as the NATO Flying Training in Canada program, systems engineering support for the CF-18 fleet, Halifax Class Modernization initiative and the Maritime Helicopter Program, CAE said Tuesday.
Gene Colabatistto, president of the defense and security group at CAE, said Armstrong will work to help build up CAE as a “training systems integrator across air, land, naval and public safety.”
Armstrong has been with CAE for more than a decade and has held senior leadership roles at the Montreal-based aerospace and defense contractor that include senior manager of engineering and technical services, regional business leader of the integrated enterprise solutions group and senior manager of global innovation and research and development.
He is also a recipient of the NATO Scientific Achievement Award in recognition of his efforts to promote simulation and modeling across the alliance.
