ManpackRadio1TrellisWare Technologies has secured a contract from the U.S. Army to develop a narrowband mode for the service branch’s Solider Radio Waveform.

The company said Tuesday the SRW Narrowband capacity will be developed, field tested and prototyped on the Army ground tactical radios over a three-year period and will operate in VHF, UHF and reduced L-band.

Rockwell Collins and Thales will support TrellisWare and offer their respective experiences on Army tactical radio platform development, security architectures, porting to radio platforms and waveform implementation.

“TrellisWare is in a unique position as a third party waveform developer to make sure that SRW NB waveform can be implemented by all platform providers in a fair and equitable manner, and we are thrilled to have been chosen to develop this crucial new capability for the Army,” said Tom Carter, TrellisWare president and CEO.
