Inmarsat’s global government business unit has designated Aero-Satcom, a joint venture of Eclipse and NSSLGlobal, as a value-added reseller of Ka-band satellite services to government customers.
Aero-Satcom will provide aeronautical Global Xpress services to a fleet of head of state aircraft in Europe through an Inmarsat public sector service provider, Aero-Satcom said Tuesday.
The company will begin to retrofit the head of state aircraft in December and deploy Eclipse’s onboard systems such as bandwidth management, bandwidth optimization and credit card payments for passenger internet access.
Andy Start, president of Inmarsat’s global government unit, said the aeronautical GX service is designed to provide a secure on-board connectivity service to head of state aviation customers.
The head of state aircraft will kick off operations in February 2017 after the retrofit.
Aero-Satcom provides aeronautical satellite communications for military and government aircraft.
