F-35 Lightning IILockheed Martin has selected Textron’s electronic systems business unit to provide threat simulation systems for electronic warfare tests on the F-35 fighter jet.

Lockheed will use Textron’s Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator system to develop and confirm aircraft software requirements for the F-35, Textron said Wednesday

Textron will manufacture the simulation system at the F-35 Norwegian, Italian Reprogramming Lab within Eglin Air Force base, where international partners receive support services.

“Our A2PATS gives the F-35 community the confidence needed to validate mission-critical electronic warfare systems,” said Steve Mensh, a Textron senior vice president and general manager.

The modular and reconfigurable system features electronic warfare, communications and electronic intelligence systems to support precision location, identification and defensive systems tests.
