CityLab: DHS Presolicitation for Border Wall Construction Draws Interest from 180 Contractors - top government contractors - best government contracting eventApproximately 180 companies have responded to a Department of Homeland Security presolicitation notice for the design and construction of wall structures between the U.S. and Mexico, CityLab reported Tuesday.

Kriston Capps writes DHS’ Customs and Border Protection said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Friday that it plans to release a formal request for proposals for the construction of the southern border wall on March 6.

Some of the companies that have expressed interest in President Donald Trump’s proposed project include Raytheon, Leo A Daly and Caddell, according to a list obtained by CityLab.

The list also includes 19 woman-owned firms, 15 Hispanic American-owned businesses, dozens of veteran- and minority-owned companies, two solar power firms and two artists from Virginia and Germany.

About 38 businesses from Texas have responded to the solicitation, the report added.

A DHS report obtained by Reuters says the plan to build the border wall would cost up to $21.6 billion over three years.
